Assessment task 1: Critiquing communication

Weight: 30%
Task: Students will use required readings and lecture content to develop critiques of health and science
communication on topics discussed in readings, lectures and class discussions. Student responses
to subject concepts, content and resources will be presented in the following formats: summaries of
required reading brought to class (Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), lecture quiz sheets completed in lectures
and brought to class (Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), and contributions to class discussions about the
readings and lectures. Drawing on these elements, students will write and post online five blog
entries (5×250-words) due on Fridays at 6pm (weeks 2-6). Early feedback will be provided by Week
Four on the first blog entry. Students will select two of their blog entries for summative assessment
(500 words) to be submitted to Turnitin in Week Six (Friday 6pm
