The “legal” stuff during pregnancy

Most people consume caffeine, drink alcohol and some people even smoke cigarettes (or marijuana). Even though these are all legal substances, they can severely impede the course of healthy normal fetal development.

Dilemma for you to consider and write about:

Hypothetically, your future wife (or best friend) consumes a high amount of alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and/or marijuana, and you just found out that she is pregnant. What do you say to her about her consumption/smoking?  Would you try to convince her to stop? Why or why not? (In your writing, make sure you identify the substance and include specific ways it can negatively impact the baby)
