Managerial Finance Homework Help

The Pfeiffer Company manages approximately $15 million for clients. For each client, Pfeiffer chooses a mix of three investment vehicles: a growth stock fund, an income fund, and a money market fund. Each client has different investment objectives and different tolerances for risk. To accommodate these differences, Pfeiffer places limits on the percentage of each portfolio that may be invested in the three funds and assigns a portfolio risk index to each client. Here’s how the system works for Dennis Hartmann, one of Pfeiffer’s clients. Based on an evaluation of Hartmann’s risk tolerance, Pfeiffer has assigned Hartmann’s portfolio a risk index of 0.05. Furthermore, to maintain diversity, the fraction of Hartmann’s portfolio invested in the growth and income funds must be at least 10% for each, and at least 20% must be in the money market fund. The risk ratings for the growth, income, and money market funds are 0.10, 0.05, and 0.01, respectively. A portfolio risk index is computed as a weighted average of the risk ratings for the three funds, where the weights are the fraction of the portfolio invested in each of the funds. Hartmann has given Pfeiffer $300,000 to manage. Pfeiffer is currently forecasting a yield of 20% on the growth fund, 10% on the income fund, and 6% on the money market fund.

a. Develop a linear programming model to select the best mix of investments for Hartmann’s portfolio.

b. Solve the model you developed in part (a).

c. How much may the yields on the three funds vary before it will be necessary for Pfeiffer to modify Hartmann’s portfolio?

d. If Hartmann were more risk tolerant, how much of a yield increase could he expect? For instance, what if his portfolio risk index is increased to 0.06?

e. If Pfeiffer revised the yield estimate for the growth fund downward to 0.10, how would you recommend modifying Hartmann’s portfolio?

f. What information must Pfeiffer maintain on each client in order to use this system to manage client portfolios?

g. On a weekly basis Pfeiffer revises the yield estimates for the three funds. Suppose Pfeiffer has 50 clients. Describe how you would envision Pfeiffer making weekly modifications in each client’s portfolio and allocating the total funds managed among the three investment funds.

Assignment: Assess Challenges Of Conducting Research Ethically Homework Help

Warm-Up Activity 7.1: Review APA Code of Ethics

This week, take time to review Standard 8: Research and Publication of Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct With the 2010 Amendments, located under your weekly resources.

Warm-Up Activity 7.2: IRBs and Human Participants

Read the information located under your weekly resources about Institutional Review Boards and experiments with human participants at:

  • American Psychological Association. (2012). Responsible conduct of research. Washington, DC.
  • S. Health and Human Services Department. (n.d.). Informed consent frequently asked questions.

Assignment

APA Ethical Standard 8 -Research and Publication, emphasizes the need for psychologists to inform participants about the purpose of the research, expected duration, and procedures. It requires psychologists to inform participants of their right to decline to participate and to withdraw from the research once participation has begun and the foreseeable consequences of declining or withdrawing. It also requires that participants be informed about the limits of confidentiality and incentives for participation. Rebers, Aaronson, and Schmidt (2016) identified three main categories of reasons for waiving the informed consent requirement: (1) decrease of data validity and quality; (2) distress or confusion of participants; and (3) practical problems. Practical problems include the possibility of selection or consent bias, which may result when the group giving researchers access to their data differs from the group denying access (Rothstein & Shoben, 2013).

For your assignment this week, you are being asked to prepare to submit a research project to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). This is hypothetical and you will not have to actually conduct the study. However, you will have to justify whether or not you are going to give the participants in your study a limited informed consent, or a fully informed consent.

Here is a bit more about the study itself:

You have decided to study how a very noisy environment differentially affects male adults and female adults, or boys and girls. One of the areas you are assessing is their ability to complete a reading comprehension task under those conditions. Your hypothesis is that female adults and girls will be less affected by high level noise than male adults and boys. In this case study example, if you provide a fully informed consent, you would need to include the expected results within the informed consent form.  As such, you might unintentionally influence the results – so you might add a statement that this is not a given, but it is what you are hypothesizing or expecting to find.  As an alternative option, you can opt to provide a limited informed consent, where you do not reveal what you expect to find within your informed consent.  If you opt for this approach, you want to argue why it is okay to exclude this information from the consent form, focusing on how this might allow for more valid results to be obtained.

To support your decision, you will provide the IRB with a 1-2-page summary of your argument for one of two options – either a) a fully informed consent, or b) a limited informed consent.  Provide support for your decision with a minimum of 3 scholarly sources, citing specific APA ethical codes for Standard 8 at least once in your response.

Length: a 1-2-page summary paper with a minimum of 3 scholarly sources (1 of the 3 citing the specific APA ethical code for Standard 8 at least once in your response).

Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards where appropriate. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Upload your document and click the Submit to Dropbox button.

Respond To Question Week 5

My favorite brand is New Balance.

“A brand is a living entity, and it is enriched or undermined cumulatively over time, the product of a thousand small gestures.”Michael Eisner, Former Disney CEO (1)

The five touchpoints include brand promise, brand story, innovation, purchase moment, and consumer experience.

  • Brand promise: The brand idea stimulates a simple brand promise that divides your brand from competitors and promotes your brand as the best, cheaper, Alternatively, different, based on your brand placement.
  • Brand story: The brand story has to come to life to inspire consumers to act, feel, or think while creating the ideal brand’s status to be held in the minds and hearts of the customers. The brand story should bring into line all brand communications across all media selections.
  • Innovation: Building a primary sound product, stay at the forefront of trends and technology to deliver creativity. Most importantly, the brand idea should drive the product development teams to remain faithful to the brand.
  • Purchase moment: The brand idea must persuade consumers along the purchase ride to the final purchase choice. Essentially, the brand idea helps drive the sales team and sets up retail channels to close the sale.
  • Consumer experience: Finally, turn usage into a consumer experience that becomes a ritual and favorite part of the consumer’s day. Moreover, the brand idea guides everyone who works on the brand to deliver excellent experiences.

It is vital to make your brand very personal.
